Track 14: Online Essentials (NTEN)

(Thursday sessions only)

It's official: fundraising online isn't just a fad, it's here to stay.  We all know that there's more to making it work than a "Donate Now" button and an email blast.  But what are the strategies and skills you'll need to get beyond the very basics?  These session will bring together the experts in the field to give you the ideas and inspiration you'll need to go back to office and transform your online giving program.

THURSDAY (GRANT ROOM)

Breakout 1: 10:30am – 12:00pm

Micro Campaign Sites and Communication Integration

Description: One of the fundamental dilemmas in any fundraising campaign is how to find real estate for it on your site.  But what if your campaign WAS the site?  More and more organizations are using micro-sites to highlight their various campaigns, build brand around issues, and serve as the hub for their on and off-line fundraising efforts. In this session, we'll explore several examples of microsites and the on- and off-line communications used to drive donations.

Speakers: Michael Cervino, Vice President & Co-Founder, Beaconfire Consulting; Felicia Carr, Director Online Communications, National Parks Conservation Association, Vinnie Wishrad, Senior Director, Community and Membership for Conservation International

Breakout 2: 1:30pm – 3:00pm

The Advocacy and Fundraising Link: Turning Activists into Donors (and vice versa!)

Description: A growing body of research suggests that your best activists may make your best donors, and vice versa!  We'll take a look at the data, and then show you case studies from organizations that took plunge and made the asks.  You'll get real rates of return from these case studies and examples you can use in your organization.

Speaker: Jeff Patrick, President, Common Knowledge

Breakout 3: 4:00pm – 5:50pm

Size Does Matter: 10 Tips for Building Your List

Description: We've heard it repeatedly. The biggest predictor of the success of any campaign is list size.  If you're looking for ways to grow your list significantly and maintain a healthy list over time, we'll show you some of the most successful methods in the sector.

Speaker: Elizabeth Brookbank, Consultant, M+R Strategic Services
