Donor Advised Funds: The Wave of the Future and Present
Description: The use of donor advised funds is on the rise. Assets in the popular charitable giving vehicle increase 23.4% last year to $21.6 billion, according to the National Philanthropic Trust. The number of new accounts, meanwhile, jumped 7% to 107,250. Funds are seeing some growth fueled by younger donors since many of the funds have reduced their minimum contribution amount to $5,000. And the success of these funds may also be due, in part, to the transfer of wealth we have been hearing so much about. Donors are increasingly thinking about leaving a legacy. What does this explosive growth in advised funds mean for fund raisers and how can we take advantage of this growing opportunity?
Speakers: Regina Watson, Director, Gift Planning Marketing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Rita Corwin, Director, Gift Planning, at Children’s Hospital Foundation of the Children’s National Medical Center
